Winter is on our doorsteps and we’re already thinking about helping a family to have a decent home for Easter! Yes, that’s right, you read correctly – Easter!
In 2000, Habitat for Humanity Beiuş launched its most successful and most publicized event which we named „Easter House”. Through this project, at least one needy family is helped to live in safe, healthy and decent conditions. So, Romanian and international volunteers build together with the home beneficiaries up until Easter week when the home is inaugurated on Maundy Thursday or Good Friday.
As everyone knows, Habitat homes don’t just appear, but there’s a lot of work that goes into making a new home. The process of family selection, the raising of funds needed to build the home, the obtaining of authorisations for build the home, the digging of the foundations, the building of the walls and the joy of the dedication of the home as the beneficiary family is ready to move in.
The whole process takes time and we’re starting the process of raising the funds and we’re happy to announce that we’ve registered with Bursa Binelui. This is a platform which enables us to raise money and no commission charges are taken from any of the donations received through this site. However if you are donating from abroad, your credit/debit card company may charge you as the donation is made in RON (Romanian lei) . What’s even better is that if we’re one of the top three fundraising organisations, BCR bank will match the amount that we’ve raised up to the value of 5000 euros.
