Habitat for Humanity Beius with the help of 300 volunteers, beneficiary families, and former orphans
Beius, 8 september 2009 – This year’s most important Habitat Romania event,Big Build, will take place in Beius.
Nearly 300 volunteers will build 10 houses in one week at the beginning of October. 200 volunteers from Habitat for Humanity Northern Ireland will be working with us to celebrate 10 years of partnership with Habitat for Humanity Romania.
“Sixteen years ago we brought 2 orphans, after that another 14. They where all 18 years of age, had a roll of clothes, a blanket, and a mattress. Most of them did not have a place to go. They often slept in the park, under a bridge, or in a railway station.
So we felt compassion for their plight. Between the 5th and 9th of October we will build a house for them. Its so beautiful to have a home of your own. Most of us are familiar with this feeling. Its a dream come truth…” says Adrian Ciorna, President of Habitat Romania.
The event is made posible thru the cooperation of Good Samaritain Beius which provided the property where the homes will be built. Purchasing the land was made possible with financial help from the EC Harris company of England which also sent 11 volunteers this week to finish building the model house for the Big Build event. The house will be completed Friday with a dedication ceremony.
