Learn & Build in Beius
The Learn & Build is a program run by Habitat for Humanity International. This year there are several Learn & Build trips mainly in the USA, but also for the first time in Beius, Romania. The Learn and Build Experience is for individuals between 16 and 18 years old who are excited to learn about Habitat’s mission and want the chance to go to an unfamiliar place with unfamiliar people. There is an educational component to the Learn and Build Experience program where they have a new perspective on need and poverty, and groups will learn about this through various activities including a tour of a poverty-stricken area and hear a Habitat homeowner’s story.
From the 19th July, 21 volunteers will work in Beius and Oradea together with needy families as they help with the finalization of several homes which are at different stages in construction. The team is made of 16 youth who didn’t know each other before coming, as well as 5 adults. They chose to spend their vacation in this way, to help those in need and at the same time to learn practical tasks as well as local traditions. The youth were selected from 300 applicants who wanted to come to Beius, celebrating the 10th anniversary of the first Learn & Build in Romania.
