Le Rosey Volunteers – A Week of Hard Work, Friendship, and Cultural Discovery in Romania
In May, we were once again honored to welcome a team of 13 students and 2 teachers from the prestigious Swiss school Le Rosey, who came to Romania to support our humanitarian housing projects in Oradea and Finiș. Their presence brought not only helping hands, but also joy, curiosity, and a sincere openness to authentic cultural exchange.
Throughout the week, the volunteers worked with great energy and dedication on site, contributing to laying the foundation of a new home in Oradea and supporting interior finishing works on the house of two sisters in Finiș. They carried concrete, installed rebar, poured cement, arranged blocks, and mounted drywall — all with admirable teamwork and good spirits.
In addition to the physical effort, they also had the chance to enjoy meaningful cultural experiences. They visited the Art High School in Oradea, where they interacted with Romanian students, took part in creative workshops, sang together, and formed friendships that we hope will last beyond this project. They also explored the Oradea Fortress, visited the Orthodox Cathedral, and admired a beautiful traditional wooden church in Beiuș.
The final evening was truly special. The group enjoyed a Romanian traditional dinner, where they were treated to local dances, music, and traditional attire from the Beiuș region. In appreciation of their contribution, each volunteer received a Certificate of Volunteerism and a small handmade clay house, a symbol of gratitude and connection.
We are deeply thankful for their commitment, for the warm friendship they’ve offered, and for choosing to be part of our mission: to build not just houses, but also hope.
