The Tal family is a young family who live in Tarcaita, a small village close to Beius. In 2011, Daniel and Monica got married and a year later their son Flavius, arrived in this world. With money they received from their wedding, the couple decided to buy a piece of land in Beius with the thought to build a house when they are able to save enough money over the next 10-20 years. Up until that time, they decided that they’ll live in Tarcaita with Monica’s family in her parent’s home.
The three family members live in one of the rooms in the old house while Monica’s younger sister lives in the other room. Her parents live in an annex built in the courtyard, where the communal kitchen and bathroom for all 6 family members is also located
After buying the land, they tried to get financing to build their home through a variety of methods but without success. They then found out about Habitat and decided to submit an application. With great joy they found out that they were selected to become Habitat beneficiaries and they are now looking forward to seeing their dream fulfilled.
The room in which they currently live is 15m2 (~160 square feet) and all that they can fit in here is a cupboard on the wall, their bed, a bed for Flavius, a nightstand and a dresser for the television. “We don’t even have room for a chair or a table. When friends come here, we wither stay in the hall in front of the two rooms where we and my sister live, or in the kitchen in the annex” says Monica.
“We’d like to have a brother or sister for Flavius, but we want to be able to offer them decent living conditions. So now we hope to obtain safety and stability for our family and especially to have sufficient space and tranquility” said Daniel.
