The Beiuş charity prepared a complete show for the 200 participants of the charitable even organized to mark the 20th anniversary.
Saturday, December 17th, Habitat pentru Umanitate Beiuş organized an anniversary charity dinner to which over 200 participants were invited, mostly from Beiuş. They enjoyed a great evening, filled with many surprises in the warm atmosphere of the restaurant Paradise Beiuş.
“In this anniversary year, the charity dinner is the first in a series of Habitat events which we want to organize up until the end of 2017. We will host projects such as “Open Doors Day”, when we wil have our doors open wide for all those who wish to learn more about us. We will also enjoy construction events that have become tradition such as “Easter House” or “Women Build” and we will continue with many other nice surprises which we will reveal in due course.” says Nicoleta Degău, the president of the association.
Being a ecumenical Christian association, the program started with a prayer after which children from the Habitat neighborhood presented a beautiful program of carols. The initiator of Habitat in Romania, Adrian Ciorna, then spoke of the early struggles and challenges of the organization. A pleasant surprise came from the theater group “Re-Open Theater” from Beiuş, coordinated by Ana Florea, a Habitat home beneficiary. The group adapted Andersen’s tale “Girl with Matches” to be the reality and difficulties in which families in need of a decent, safe and healthy home, live, prior to benefiting of Habitat’s support. Anotehr delight was the artistic moment of the folk music band “Dor Bihorean” coordinated by Remus Lazea, former vice-president of Habitat Beiuş. The warm atmosphere of the whole program was led by Lucian Cremeneanu, the master of ceremonies who challenged participants to bid many piece of art donated by 14 local artists and of tennis balls signed by Simona Halep. Forty-four prizes offered with the generosity of the events sponsors were presented as a result of a raffle. These prizes were sweet bread, cakes, Christmas ornaments, vouchers for Daniela beauty salon, wall calendars, cosmetics, computer accessories, safety equipment and a mobile telephone with a free one year contract offered by Digi. The anniversary cake, sponsored by the Bridge café also symbolically represented Habitat’s activity. Also, SC Desira, the host of the event at Paradise Restaurant supported the entire costs of the event.
Among the participants there were many business people, some of the artists who donated works, local councilors, mayor Peter Mlendea, deputy mayor Ovidiu Daescu and the freshly re-elected deputy Bogdan George. At the end of the evening 7,000 Euros had already been raised, but with the commitments made by some of the participants, the final sum will approach 10,000 Euros. The money will be used to build the “Easter House” in 2017 to benefit a family with two children in Beiuş.
At the end of the auction, another surprise tool place which neither the organizers, Nicoleta Degau (Habitat president) or Mircea Jurcan (executive director) knew about. They were handed by Adrian Ciorna, president of Good Samaritan Beiuş a financial partnership contract for the value of 50,000 Euros.
“I decided to come up with a special gift on the 20th anniversary of the association which I formed in 1996. You come with a gift to the birthday of loved ones. The 50,000 Euros will hopefully be a good start for the next 20 years of Habitat Beiuş in serving those in need of shelter, for those who suffer from the lack of a decent home.” says Adrian Ciorna.
The partnership brings together two strong associations who have been active in Beiuş for two decades and maximizes the capabilities of the two organizations. If in this framework Good Samaritan finances and offers support, Habitat pentru Umanitate will implement the projects agreed by the parties. Adrian also announced his personal project in 2017: 50 houses built and 50 merit based scholarships for high school students, namely one for each year of his life as he celebrates being 50 years old next year.
Sponsors of the charitable event were 14 artists from the Beiuş area: Alexandra Chiriac, Andrei Mezei, Angela Szabo, Claudia Oros, Daniel Dan, Elena Bissinger, George Tirla Jerome Morut, Ludmilka locs, Mariana Oros, Marius Boc, Mircea brand Stela Vesa and Turor Frâncu, together with Buru Bakery, Bridge Cafe, Central Beiuş Cafe, Cornelia Cimbre, DJ Horaţiu, RCS & RDS, European Drinks, Professional Video and Photo Flavius Cionca, Kataleia Art Beiuş Scalini Buntesti, Salon Daniela Beiuş, SC Desira through Paradise Restaurant, Total Clean Oradea, and West Computers Beiuş
